About Richard Olivier Boukono
I have 25 years of service experience in the army, 15 years as an infantry combat group leader in the military
engineering and 10 years in the special forces of Côte d'Ivoire. At the special forces, I took over as the head of the cell
after graduating EOD in 2013. I participated for 2 years in Burkina Faso in the training of operators in the elimination of
explosive remnants of war and the neutralization of improvised explosive devices. I have good knowledge in combat
engineering and infantry. I have had to command men in hostile environments, under enemy fire. Having started at the
bottom of the ladder, i.e. as a non-commissioned officer, I learned the work of my operators before becoming the chief.
I was trained in France at PIAM and did a two-year American-led program, which allowed me to learn other methods.
